DETAILED TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1: Arrive, Sight Seeing in Dublin
We will meet
you at Dublin Airport to whisk you to priority check in at your hotel and then on a sight-seeing
tour of Dublin personalized to your interests. Visit Trinity College,
Christ
Church Cathedral and the magnificent chambers of Dublin Castle, stroll
around the National Museum or
Gallery or visit the Museum of Modern Art in
the beautifully restored Royal Hospital.
Evening: Dinner at the Exchange Restaurant
in the Westin Hotel
DAY 2: Full Day Tour, Boyne Valley
Travel
back to Ireland's ancient past today, with a chance to
explore the passage tombs of Newgrange and Knowth, older than the pyramids,
visit the ecclesiastical capital of Monasterboice with
its famous high crosses and
stand on top of the
Hill of Tara, seat of Ireland's first High Kings.
Evening: Dinner in the fashionable and lively Roly's
Bistro or at Patrick Guilbaud's, Ireland's only 2 star Michelin Restaurant.
DAY 3: Morning Tour of Wicklow, Afternoon Free
Wicklow
is known as the Garden of Ireland, and you will soon see why. Highlights today
include the monastic settlement and round tower at Glendalough, the picturesque
village of Avoca including the the famous Avoca Hand
weavers and the marvellous Mount Usher Gardens. Spend
the afternoon
exploring the fashionable shopping streets close to your hotel.
Evening: Dinner is not included this evening, we can recommend
restaurants and make reservations for you if you wish. This would be a good
evening to take in a play or concert - we can let you know what's on and
arrange tickets in advance.
DAY 4: Dublin to Kilkenny
We
travel through Kildare, home of the legendary Irish Thoroughbred horse,
stopping to see some of the best Irish stallions at the Irish National Stud and tour
the adjacent Japanese Gardens. Take a leisurely stroll around the
narrow streets and lanes of the medieval city of Kilkenny and a tour of its 800
year old castle.
Evening: Dinner in your choice of the Hotel's excellent restaurants.
DAY 5: Full Day Tour, Waterford & Wexford
Today's
tour includes a visit to the Waterford City and its Crystal
Factory, where you can see craftsmen creating the famous cut glass. We
will travel through Wexford visiting the Famine Museum,
and return through the quaint village of Inistoige,
which has been a location for many movies made in Ireland.
Evening: Enjoy an evening out in Kilkenny city. Dinner is not
included this evening, we can recommend a restaurant from the many excellent
ones in the city.
DAY 6: Kilkenny to Killarney
An
interesting drive today, visiting the splendid Rock of Cashel,
Cahir Castle and the town of Cobh,
where thousands of Irish emigrants to the USA had their last glimpse of home.
We will also stop at Middleton Distillery, to see how
Irish Whiskey is made and taste some fine examples.
Evening: Dine this evening at the
renowned restaurant in the Brehon Hotel
DAY 7: Dingle or the Beara Penninsula
Today
you can choose to tour the Dingle Peninsula or the
more remote Beara Peninsula, both areas of spectacular
scenery, with small villages and interesting craft workshops. Return in time
to have a game of golf, go horse riding or spend a few relaxing hours in the
hotel's spa.
Evening: Free this evening for dinner, perhaps
at the Golf Club, or we can arrange a reservation at a local restaurant.
DAY 8: Ring of Kerry
The
Ring of Kerry is a spectacular coastal drive through
some of the most magnificent scenery in Ireland. Stop at the lovely towns of
Sneem, with it's artist's workshops, and
Kenmare, where there is excellent shopping, returning
via the Lakes of Killarney to visit
Muckross House and the Torc Waterfall.
Evening: An early dinner at the hotel before leaving for an evening
at Siamsa Tire, the National Folk Theatre or "Dance on the Moon", a Riverdance
style show in Killarney.
DAY 9: Killarney to Dromoland
We
cross by ferry today to Co Clare, visiting the world heritage site of
Skellig Michael (including a boat trip to the Skellig,
weather permitting) the Cliffs of Moher and the
Burren, with its extraordinary landscape, its unique ecology and
hundreds of ancient stone monuments.
Evening: Attend the Banquet at Bunratty Castle or if you prefer have
dinner in a local restaurant followed by an evening of Traditional Music.
DAY 10: Tour Limerick, Adare, Bunratty
Spend
the early part of the day in Limerick, visiting
King John's Castle and the
Hunt Museum and later visit Bunratty Castle and
Folk Park, before returning to Dromoland to enjoy your choice of the many leisure facilities on the estate.
Evening: Dinner at Restaurant in Dromoland Castle.
DAY 11: Morning Tour & Airport Transfers
On your last day in Ireland, enjoy a final tour tailored to the amount of time you have available before catching your flight home.
We will get you to Shannon airport in comfortable time for your flight and then we say farewell - until you return to Ireland!
